THE 2018 season had been a quite sorry one ( no deer sightings ) until NOV.5 . That morning it all broke loose ! At 7:10 am the 8 point snuck in sniffing the doe in heat I had put out . I shot him at about 18/20 yards …re-cocked my crossbow and sat down to settle a little . Almost immediately after the 8 pt. ran up a ridge …Another big buck came out at the far edge of a bean field about 200 yards off and headed my way ! He slowly walked toward me and cut in towards my ladder ..unfortunately he turned at about 40/45 yards and walked back away from my stand .I called my son Dennis to tell him about the action going on about 8:20 am. While I was talking to him a 3 point buck walked in from in front and above me …I hung up the phone ,waited for him to clear some branches and shot him at about 14 yards ! WOW …what a way for things to perk up !! I still have a doe-permit but have called it quits for this season ! First time I was able to hunt the tulip stand .

My son Easton who is now 7 years old, has been hunting with me for the past 2 years. This year was to be his first year to hunt from a treestand and to actually shoot. Oct 28th was our first time out, this doe came in at 6:25pm and he placed a perfect shot on her with a Ravin Crossbow @ 20yds. She ran only ran 40 yds.

Well it all started last weekend when I fell out of my stand trying to shoot a big 8 and I was layed up for about a week sore got to where I could pull my bow back and decide to go hunting the sat evening I shot this guy I got to my stand at 339 and crawled 100yds to my cause there was two does in the woods about forty yards from my stand climber up in knocked an arrow wasn’t in my stand 20 mins and four more dose came out then went to my plot so it got pretty quiet and about 6.30 pm i looked in the swamp about 80 yards and the big ten we have on cam was heading to the plot I was like dang it thinking about climbing down and cutting him off but my gut told me no and this is why 10 yard shot died at about 90

COLD! Hunted the night before, snow was too deep to go to the stand I wanted. Sawlots of deer but no shots. Went out the next night and decided on a ground hunt where I had seen all the deer the night before (I’ve never sat the ground, it was a whim). Had 40-50 deer coming for both directions but all were small bucks or does, I figured if I was going to brave the temps, I was going to make it worth my while. In came this guy chasing a doe. 40 yard shot, he dropped 100 yards away in the middle of the field.
