We had him on camera several times, and called him the “unicorn” buck. I was watching the Michigan game with my son, and then decided to go hunting late. Got out to my stand at 5:30, and at 6:00 he came in. Double lunged him and he ran 50 yards and dropped. He was quite the unique buck.

At the beginning of the season I wrote about a mature Michigan whitetail that I had an incredible encounter with. Well after weeks of being outsmarted by this beautiful 11 point I was finally able to get it done with the bow! Incredibly thankful for every encounter I have had with this deer, and the unforgettable season I have had pursuing him. I am unbelievably thankful for this deer, not just for the clean protein he provides for the table, but for how much this deer has taught me and forced me to learn and grow as a hunter. This was the only deer I was hunting this season, and I have never felt such a strong connection to a pursuit as I have this year hunting and watching this buck. This buck pushed me to learn more about hunting than I ever have in a season. He forced me to do things differently, think differently, and hunt differently. He has consistently stayed out of bow range, but tonight, all the time put in, hunting the right winds, and a change of setup was enough to get it done and put this beautiful Michigan 11 point on the ground! God is great, and I am beyond thankful for the opportunity I have had to hunt and now harvest this Michigan whitetail!

And in following a doe who had me pegged. Doe eventually worked her way past me after 10 minutes of waiting her out and this guy followed suit presenting me with a quartering away 30 yard shot.

Perfect morning, scared deer on the way into the stand, thought the hunt was a bust, shortly after daylight does started to funnel into the field followed by this guy and two other bucks , shot him at 20 yards and he piled up after 35 yards, glad to be able to put one down after a few years of waiting on one and letting little ones go
