I was hunting a very small rape and turnip plot watching a small 6 pt feeding when this guy walked up. Couldn’t see it’s antlers at first but noticed it was the biggest deer I’d ever seen! It finally showed its rack and I didn’t even have time to get the shakes. Just drew and shot. I misjudged the distance and spined it. It dropped right in the plot and I put another arrow in the vitals so it wouldn’t suffer. I estimated this deer at only 3.5-4.5 years old using tooth wear technique and also based on a trail cam pic from the year before. My season was basically over in the first half hour of light. I’m definitely not complaining! This is not a typical deer for the area I hunt, but it just goes to show that if you let the little guys and even 2.5 year olds go you just might get lucky and be rewarded with a chance to harvest a true buck of a lifetime.

He was the first deer I saw in the morning. I only had about 8 seconds from the time I saw him to the point where I made the shot. My arrow deflected off a twig before it got to him and I knew I hit him back. He went about 120 yards and I lost sight of him. I knew I hit him behind the ribs and was positive I didn’t hit liver. I decided to leave him lay. The next morning I went back in and found him where I last saw him. It was a long 24 hours but well worth the wait. He is my second biggest buck and best bow buck.

Was up north gun hunting the first 4 days of firearm season. Wanted to get the bow back out where I had an encounter with a 10pt on the 13th. Was only my second time in this spot. Tuesday morning got in early had a perfect North wind and some fresh snow on the ground. Had a doe coming down the ridge to the flat I was on, followed by this 10pt. 22yrd quartering away shot he ran 60yrds and hit the dirt.

Second buck I’ve ever shot. Biggest to date. Almost didn’t go out that day. Made it out to the woods around 4pm and saw some movement in the woods around 4:45. Hit the grunt call a couple times and came out chasing 8 does. Great night out!

I seen him behind me about 100 yards. I grunted at him and he came in to 37 yards. The rage extreme did its job. Green scored 158 4/8.
