7 years of habitat management and food plot work are producing some really nice bucks in an area that historically produced very few mature bucks! Hunting a transition funnel on Nov. 15 this 5.5 year-old was scent checking a food plot in a thick edge, nose in the air, and being very vocal. Two does and 3 young bucks had come through 20 minutes prior to him showing up and I was able to drop him at 85 yards! These hunts are so meaningful after months of prep, habitat work. and passing on multiple 2.5 year old bucks every year!

First Buck!! We were doing a deer drive and someone else started to shoot at another buck and I thought that he might have missed it and it was going to run over to me and instead a different bigger buck came running right at me and I shot him at a sprint at 10 yards thought I missed and shot again then dropped him right in his tracks.

I was sitting in my box blind on the morning of November 16th when this fella snuck up on me. He was coming straight at me for about twenty yards and then decided to cut across my shooting lane. He was cautious and took his time but eventually he stepped out and gave me a twenty five yard broadside shot. Needless to say the Remington .270 put a quick stop to his progress. No tracking necessary! He was a typical 8 with a 16 1/2 inch inside spread but the tip of his right main beam was broken so a 7 he is. What a fine day!
