I spotted him hiding in some small pine trees watching over his harem of 11 does feeding in the field at 1:15 in the afternoon. He made the mistake of getting a little to close to the edge.

Wasn’t able to hunt opening day because of work so I was happy to get out to the blind. Sat for the morning hunt but didn’t have much luck. Got out for the evening hunt at 4:30, husband glassed a set antlers moving through the brush after he noticed a few birds take off out of some trees across the field. At 5:10 he stepped out at 150 yards, turned broad side and I took the shot. He mule kicked and ran off into a thick bedding area. Called my dad and father-in-law to come help us track. Found good blood for a few hundred yards then jumped him. Backed out for the night. Came back out at first light to track. Tracked for another 300-400 yards. Lost blood where he has done some circling in the thick brush. After 45 minutes we were just about to call in the blood hounds when we found new blood, only to find him 30 yards away piled up in a swamp. Great first deer with an incredible story to go with it.

Taken while chasing some does across a field at 140 yards. First shot he was moving at a trot, second shot dropped him. Biggest buck I’ve ever seen

Spent all day in my blind for the opener and I couldn’t be happier with the results. After passing on some smaller bucks throughout the day, this 10 point showed its face right at dusk. I was able to take him down, what a thrill!

On Friday November 9th, my sister came home for a weeeknd visit from college wanting to go hunting with me. With her request, I put down my compound bow for the night and grabbed a ground blind along with the crossbow and headed out not expecting to see a deer at all. Most the time spent in the ground blind was telling jokes, screwing around, and trying to be quiet knowing we couldn’t. Her and I sat for about an hour until around 4:00 in the evening, somehow/someway after making all the noise we were making, this guy came strolling in checking a scrape. At 44 yards the arrow sunk into him. Was a great memory made with the sis!

4:30 pm, came in, made a rub 40 yards out, walked to my right about 20 yards away, shook the water off his back, then continued walking. I gave a grunt but he didnt care one bit and kept walking. Quartering away at 25 yards I Let the arrow go and managed to get the back side lung. Now to clear some room on the wall.
