Morning hunt, at day break he came into food plt. He fed for two minutes and then walked off to the east, where I had to unzip a window in my blind, he stopped and looked at me three times as I eased the zipper inch by inch. I thought he was going to blow and run off at any second. After a couple minutes and a flick of his tail stepped forward for a clear 15 yard shot. Rage hypodermic did its job.

Hunted this guy for a couple years. I missed him in the 2016 season. I kept cameras out all year and have countless photos and videos of him. I was able to pattern him in 2017. He was coming over from my neighbors property in the evening and then would hang around my side sometimes too long and get caught in the daylight before he would go back. So I ends up hunting him exclusively in the mornings through October. It finally paid off and I was able to connect with him on Oct. 22nd.

We were part of the search grid pattern for the attempted murderer in Oxford / Ortonville / Brandon area. Early morning the ground crews were up and down the roads sweeping property, homes, and out buildings. Helicopters buzzing zest our properties for over two hours. We all figured we were not going to see any deer. Throughout the day we were not seeing any deer at all and normally we see a lot. Right before dark two doe came out a spike followed them and then the big 8 came out. He chased the doe right to my area and then followed her into the woods. I shot him with my muzzle loader at about 80 yards he dropped within 20 feet.

My first hunting season back from living in California and finally where I belong in Michigan. It was the morning of October 30th and I decided to go to my stand despite the abscence of my long time friend that morning. Around 7:30 am I could hear this guy just trucking along towards me and through the stream about 35 yards to my left. I could see his figure and that he had a rack but it was still just too dark to make an ethical shot so I just waited. He hung around for a couple minutes and then left. I was bummed. Thinking that I lost a chance. I texted my buddy about it and he told me to just chill out. There’s a chance he may pass back thru. So no sooner that we made that exchange I could hear him trucking back towards me from the right hand side. It was now just after 8 am and there was enough light to now make a shot. He walked directly under my stand and hung out there for a minute then continued back to the stream where he originally came from. I drew back and waited. Just before he got to the stream he stopped and turned to the side giving me a perfect broadside shot at about 25 yards. After the shot I heard him run up a hill then crash in the woods. It ended up being a pass thru heart shot. He expired quickly, running no more than 40 yards. It was my first Michigan buck with a bow.
