Got this guy using my grandpa’s old 30-30. After getting settled in the blind I looked at the gun and said, “let’s make some more memories grandpa.” Shortly thereafter this guy came out chasing a doe and I dropped him at 90yds. I miss my grandpa dearly but I know he was with me on this day!

God is great, the best 3 words for this hunt. With this being my first buck, I couldn’t of asked for a more amazing story. On the first night, I made the mistake of making a dud shot and didn’t prepare myself. I left the stand feeling so dissapointed and high doubts about myself, and most importantly my uncle. He got me all set up and I thought I failed him. The next day, him and I walked over 1000 yards into the deep cedar swamp. Searching for any blood trails and tracks, nothing. I was so restless, didn’t sleep a wink. The next day, I grabbed my bow and decided to try again. As I was sitting up there, I decided to give it to God and pray with all my heart. I begged Him for a second chance to learn from my mistakes and have a restart on my first buck. Sure enough, I look to my left and there it was, the buck I missed. I gathered myself and took the shot. My uncle arrived and he greeted me with the biggest hug. This was truly a gift from God and I’ve never been more proud, to have my first buck down in the Upper Peninsula.

I got into my blind around 6:00am Saturday morning and saw nothing until 11:00am. I have had very little deer movement where I’m hunting, but seeing a doe at 11:00 I had high hopes for a good day of hunting. I never left the blind the entire day and I didn’t see another deer until shortly after 5:00pm. This was a very small spike. Shortly after he walked in he kept looking behind him and in walked my 9pt., which had followed the spikes exact path. I had one good shot to the front shoulder and he dropped just inside the tree line. Hunting hard and putting in those long hours sure does pay off. #hunter
