This day was amazing and it’s still sinking in. The 450 did the work. I had some does out in the beans and he popped out of the finger of the woods about 200 yards away. I watched him make a scrape but kept following a small doe out into the beans. I knew this was my chance. It was like he was on a string. At about 150 yards she turned and started heading away. I thought oh no. He kept walking and then stopped broadside. I was shaking like a leaf, took 4 deep breathes and settled in. He was still there. I touched the 450 off. He stood there then took a couple steps and slowly went down in the beans. I knew he was done. TAGGED OUT!!!!

Was sitting in a stand but saw him walking in the distance so got down and stalked him across a field to shoot him at last light. The bushmaster does it again!

My father shot the 5 point we called wide five in the morning opening day. Once we got the deer hanging I went back out sat down about 1:45 and had the 8 point on the ground by 2. It was a great day hunting with my dad and an opening morning I’ll never forget.

This is one of 5 bucks I had on trail cam. I went out at 4 pm thinking I’d see some does. At around 5 pm this buck came thru thicket at 30 yards and gave me a perfect broadside shot.
Shot him in heart and ran about 30 yards.
