I heard some movement in the ravine behind me and watched as a 5pt was making his way up the river bank. He froze and look off to my right and didn’t move for awhile. I glanced in front of me and a hot doe was about 50 yds in front of me all alone but looking back into the woods she came from. We both stared back in that direction waiting to see what was in the woods. After a bit this buck lifted his head up in the thicket and I grabbed my 450 to take a good look. I knew he was a mature buck but I had no shot due to the brush he was it and some trees. After what felt like an eternity he took about a half step and I shot. He mulekicked and ran straight at me. I chamberd another round and at 30 yds I took another shot. He crashed into a cedar tree and went about 15ft and it was all over. All of this took place in 20 seconds. What memorable opening morning!
