I went out around 0130 hours. At around 0230 hours I looked up to my left to see a large set of antlers 15 ft from me along the deer path. The deer took a sharp left behind some thick cover. I knew he’d be coming out of a clearing directly in front of me so I raised my crossbow in anticipation. When he came out, he was quickly quartering away from me. I made a quick wheezing sound by mouth and he turned just enough for me to line up a shot. He went about 40 yards before he fell. The arrow had penetrated his right lung and heart.
