As soon as I got into my tree stand around 4 p.m I pulled out my rattle bag and rattled for a minute and within minutes had a nice 7 point come in , into the woods next to me but never gave me an opportunity to shoot and then I lost sight of him. After that I had 4 does that were in the field along with 3 bucks, 2 small 4 points and a decent 6 point. I watched them for about an hour until they all started to clear the field. I then grunted a few times and rattled again and had this guy come from the other side of the field trotting towards me. He came in and I didn’t have a chance to get a shot off until he had ran past me, I grunted at him to stop him and he stopped about 25 yards quartering away from me and i took the shot. I knew when I hit him I was a little far back on my shot and I saw the arrow sticking out of him still so I didn’t have a pass through shot. I decided to wait until morning to track him since I wasn’t sure on the shot placement. Morning came and it was raining and I couldn’t find any blood or my arrow but found him maybe 40 yards from where I shot him. My rage broadhead didn’t open up and I had gut shotted him, so I’m glad I waited to track him. This was my second buck of the season all tagged out.
