It’s Sunday morning and I’m driving out to hunt when I get a notification of this buck on camera for the first time. I’m so excited my legs were shaking as I climb on stand from basically running out there. 30 min into shooting hours I get him again on my other camera a ways away from where I was hunting and shear disappointment set in, right idea, wrong spot but reminded myself, shake it off, the odds are not zero. Fast forward – I didn’t see any deer but heard a close shot at 10:15am, get ready maybe something will get pushed my way, scope on 3 we’re good. 11am -sure enough here comes a nice tall rack slipping through the brush on a mission to get out of dodge! I could see he had a hitch from being wounded and was making an escape. Trying to sort out what to do I decide to wait until he got into an opening and let out a very loud “meeep”. To my surprise he stopped and I quickly let the 350 bark three times and before he tipped over. I couldn’t believe it – it was the camera buck! And that puts a wrap on an unforgettable season tagging two great public land bucks! Tagged out!!
