I got to my hunting shack at 2 pm. I was seeing numerous small bucks chasing does through the corn stubble to the south and in my hay field. A little after 4 pm, three bucks entered the hay field from the thicket to the north. I could see movement in the thicket where the bucks entered the field from. I could see a big body but couldn’t make out the size of the antlers. After what seemed like an eternity, actually was only a few minutes, this Big bucks made his way out of the thicket.
He was broadside on the edge of my hayfield at 100 yards. I eased my 450 Bushmaster onto the monopod. The shot was true as he donkey kicked and ran back into the thicket. He went 50 yards through some of the nastier brush imaginable. Easy to find blood, Not so easy to follow!
