I’ve been hunting this buck since I started bow hunting this season, but he never came in during daylight. I got him with my late grandfathers 1993 Remington 1187 12ga special purpose “gobbler gun” he bought brand new. That morning, my 3 year old and husband were headed to the “kid friendly” spot and I was headed back to my grandpas stand. My son asked me “mama, where’s grandpa Larry?” And I waited a moment and told him “I think he’s already out hunting” and he sure was out there with me. My grandpa travelled all over to hunt mule deer, pronghorn, bear, elk, turkey, whitetail, and he instilled it in me from the time I was my son’s age. Growing up, I was blessed to learn how to do food plots, bedding thicket, watch their signs, and finally harvest many mature bucks and toms with him by my side in the field glasses saying “you got him!” As I was watching a beautiful double bearded tom strut, this guy came out from behind a tree. God is good, all the time.
