I have been hunting as hard as I can with a one year old and wife that works weekends. I have had multiple good sits during bow season and passed up a number of decent bucks and a ton of small bucks. I got out to the stand and it was dead as could be, not even a squirrel moving. Around 5 pm I started to have some doe come out followed by a small 4 point. The lingered around at about 30 yards and another few doe, a button and a six trickled in. I had eyes on a big doe thinking I might as well fill my freezer. I looked back over where the 6 had been standing and thought “my god, he got bigger?” All I could see was his body because his head was tucked behind a tree. Once he lifted his head up, I knew he was a shooter. I had 7 deer within 25 yds of my blind surrounding me 180 degrees so I had to move very carefully. I got my little single shot .44 mag up, he came into 20 yards and the rest is history. Piled up at 60 yards. Might be the last season I can hunt this property as the land owner is considering moving to the U.P. and I couldn’t think of a better way to end an era. Thank you to my wife for supporting my adventures and being willing to carry more of the load during hunting season and thank you to the best aunts and grandmas for helping out with the little one!
