We stumbled across these birds on their way to roost the night before statewide opener but got beat to the spot the next morning. After a long opener with no luck and a lot of miles logged we roosted them again in the same area. The next morning we had them all to ourselves. Setup where we thought they’d pitch down to strut, and the boss hen led them right past us at 35-40 yards. First double for both of us, and a memory that will last a lifetime.
