I went out to sit the evening of the season opener after a fairly productive morning where i saw 8 does. After sitting for a while I had a basket rack 8 point come in that we’d seen on the trail camera several times this year (potential for next year!) followed by this guy who hadn’t showed up on our cameras at all this year. As they got closer to me a doe behind me blew at me and that put both bucks on high alert so I knew it was now or never and i cut the bolt loose. It hit him in the base of the neck and came out right behind his shoulder, as fast as it all happened it was like slow motion through my eyes. He ran about 30 yards and fell over dead! I barely could contain my excitement and had to get out of my treestand, after all these years I still get as excited when I shoot any deer as I did as a kid.
