So thankful for the opportunity to experience an amazing hunting weekend with my 10 year old son. We spent a lot of hours together sharing in nature and of course goofy nonsense as well. Our first two sits we did not see any deer but talked a lot about deer behavior, what to do when it happens, where deer might come from, and where are all the damn deer? On the final hunt we were thinking the deer would come from a specific location and pin pointed out longest distance shot to safely harvest a deer. The last 20 minutes of daylight this buck walks out from the exact area my son had imagined a deer would come from. It stayed out of our safe zone distance for a while. We could observe through the binoculars that it was a good buck and for a moment it looked as if he might duck back into the woods. After what felt like an eternity he decided to come out into the field and stopped directly under the tree in the middle of the field that we had used to pinpoint our furthest distance shot. As I was lined up in the sight, my son whispered to me “Dad shoot now”. Being together in that moment was more amazing than I can even share. To be sure we had a Big Buck Party that evening! We got a lot of thumbs ups on the ride home. This one will go on the wall to remember the experience forever. Much thanks to the the friends that shared in this awesome hunting weekend as well. I appreciate every second!
