I was fortunate to catch up to a good public land hardwoods buck. We knew him from last year and got a trail cam pic of him the weekend prior. I sat in a ladder stand we had set up earlier in the year in a deep ravine system about 800 yards from where we got the trail cam pic. At 5:40 I caught movement 80yds down near the bottom, he was cruising alone & fairly quickly. I tipped the can call over but it was just breezy enough where he couldn’t hear it, so I mouth bleated at him once, he stopped and looked my way, 2 can calls later he turned 90 degrees and was trotting towards me. At 10 yards he entered my biggest shooting lane and I let him have it. He took off and made it about 100yds up the opposite hillside…… I was in disbelief when he stopped, staggered and tipped over! Definitely feeling blessed to be the fortunate hunter to catch up to this Northern MI state land stud.
