My first ever deer/buck. I fell in love with hunting last year when I bought my first bow, but didn’t have any luck last year. This year I’ve hunted since opening day of bow, through heat, cold, and empty sits. Many prayers sent up high and trying to have faith no matter what happened. But this year was especially bittersweet—my first season without my grandpa. Today I felt led to sit in his blind, wearing his old hat and using his .243. I prayed, waited, and eventually watched a few does walk in…then this buck stepped out. Took a 50-yard shot, hardest blood trail to follow, tracked him another 50, and found him. Jumped for joy and just fell to my knees and I thanked God for the blessing and the answered prayer. Have faith out there hunters.
