Got out later than I wanted to this morning. 7:20 by the time I was in the blind and situated. About 25 mins later I saw a doe walk in. I hesitated to shoot her because I could see another one hiding behind some pine trees. Soon after I saw a decent sized spike come running in her direction from the field. That stirred out this 8pt. I watched him chase the spike off about 15 feet in front of me and then hide behind the trees again. Shot him at roughly 20 yards when he finally gave me a shot. Ran and dropped another 25 yards away. When I looked up to reload the doe was still standing in the same spot looking at me and I took her as well. 2 shots in less than a minute of each other. Never did I think I would ever have this opportunity. And I honestly wasn’t expecting to see much this morning. Very grateful for such an amazing opening morning.
