Wasn’t supposed to start work til 8 today so figured I’d go sit behind the barn for a half hour before work. It’s only a .5 acre swale hole but it holds good deer every year once the pressure from the neighbors hits. I heard bucks bumping does as soon as I got sat down up against a big pine but had no idea what they were until it cracked light. At about 7:15 I could tell there was two good bucks and mine being the biggest but couldn’t get a shot till about 7:25. He ran past at 40 yards with the doe, and I stopped him, shot and smoked him. He ran right at me to 20 yards and piled up. Extremely blessed to be able to chase these beautiful animals.
