I headed out after school on snowy Monday afternoon. When I first got setup I had several young bucks moving in the brush all around me. They knew I was there but wouldn’t leave. My dad text me there a mature deer must have a doe upwind in the bedding area. Sure enough around 5pm the doe ran out of the bedding area and the big 10pt was close behind. I shot him at 20 yards right in the middle of the body. We gave him overnight as my dad called Rob Miller deer tracking to come help on Tuesday morning. There was no blood but that didn’t matter to Sargent, he ran right to my buck. After a couple follow-up shots the buck was down! A Veterans Day hunt I will never forget.
