The morning of Braeyden’s first ever hunt was a loud and exciting one! Just before dawn the mighty hunter climbed into his blind with his mentor close in tow. The ladder came crashing down waking up every living creature for miles… After a few minutes of reattaching the ladder to the hunting platform, we were able to gather our nerves and settle in for the hunt. Barely settled in and with daybreak upon us we quickly realized that one of the largest bucks that had ever been seen on the property was glaring directly at us. He slowly walked along the neighbors side of the river and slipped into a small knoll. Moments later a deer popped onto the shooting lane directly behind us at 67 yards. Braeyden pulled up his Maverick 88 20 guage, took a deep breath and pulled the trigger! The deer ran back towards the river. The shot missed the deer… Two minutes go by and again a deer appeared in the shooting lane. Shockingly it was the same buck! A little more coaching and bang! This time the deer flipped over and headed to our woods. Perfect shot at 75 yards right through the heart. Great shooting by a great kid!
