It was my first sit in this stand. My father and I set it up in September as a last ditch setup for the season. Started to play my buck grunt 45 minutes before dark. Called this buck in. He was under my tree stand for 10 minutes. Barely making a sound. Thought he had snuck off on me. He then made some noise and walked away through the brush. Popped out at 80 yards away and made a scrape. Then Continued on towards the open field. He then walked right next to my truck I had parked in the field behind some pine trees. About 200 yards away from my stand.
He noticed my truck…. He stared at it for 5 minutes then finally blew his trumpet and ran away…. I Thought for sure he was spooked and I had blown my spot. I was bummed. Then he started walking towards me through the brush like I had him on a string pulling him in.
He gave me a 25 yard chip shot.
I made a great shot on him. he kicked his hind quarters, and ran and almost fell down. I Heard the crashing and he was down. He went 30-40 yards.
I am proud of my father and I for getting it done.
