This was my second year hunting turkeys and the first year I was successful! Spotted this this Tom while a scouting a new spot via vehicle cross the road, so I decided to get out and set up shop on a public land field edge.

Hours past, as I called every once and a while in the cold drizzle rain. It wasn’t until 7pm when I saw my first hen, who passed by uninterested in my decoys. As daylight faded and time was running out, this Tom came back to my side of the road and brought his 5 Jake friends with him.

We played peekaboo out of the bushes and standing corn for a while and ultimately he came charging into my decoys, on a mission, beating up the half strut Jake – just like you see “on TV”. After what he did, I decided I was not going to let him leave and gave it to him.

I’m proud of this Turkey and I am looking forward to next season!
