Chantel Zuiderveen

We had pictures of this buck coming out every other night with another little 8 point. I have been hunting for a few years now and still have never gotten anything with my bow before so my husband was encouraging me to take which ever one came out and gave me a good shot. It just so happened the day of opener was one of those every other days that they should be showing up, so there I sat in my t shirt and socks because of how hot it was! Around 6:30 the smaller 8 showed up and I got ready to shoot. Unfortunately/fortunately he never came into the food plot. I sat there a little dissapointed but my husband assured me that they have been coming in around 7:40ish, so I waited. 7:30 rolled around and there he was coming out of the woods to my left. My heart started pounding and I got ready once again. Slowly but surely he made it into the plot around 7:40 just like my husband said. He sat around 35 yards away for a while and I just did not feel confident yet. I waited until he stepped into 30 yards, drew up and took my shot. He took off but I knew I got him. We let him lay for the night and called Taylor Ardis with his dog Mace to help us track in the morning, took her 13 minutes and he was found!! Best feeling in the world.
