I’ve got a cam setup on a scrape line and he showed up for the first time early morning on 11/8 checking scrapes as a new buck to the area. 11/8 the wind was perfect for me to sit near the scrape line. I bumped a couple of deer coming in and had a fork nosing around me at first light. I started blind rattling at around 8 am hoping he’d want to check out the area since he had just arrived. 15/20 minutes later I spotted him walking in cautiously. He j hooked and got directly downwind of me at 30 yards. He was in thick brush with no shot. Once he got directly downwind he started scent checking my direction and I thought it was over. Fortunately a doe came in to the clearing and caught his attention. He started walking towards her with his neck stretched out and I stopped him at 20 yards for the shot. I doubled lunged him and watched him drop within 100 yards. Saved by the doe! My second best to date.
