We found the area the evening before opener and seen some buck rubs so we decided to hunt the opener here instead of Branch county. I sat downwind of 3 runways before daybreak in a fence row and hadn’t see anything so I called my brother at 8:15 am who was hunting a different spot and as we talked about packing up I spotted him running across a open field to my right to my left and said Dude hang on, umm I’ll call you back and tossed the phone lol The wind was 30+ mph gusting to near 50+ mph and I shot at him as the wind blew my blind back and forth and missed. I decided to exit my pop-up blind for a second shot,as I did I pulled up the stakes on accident and ran to a nearby downed tree and took my second shot.Estimated the range at 225 yds and my shot hit him (Mossberg 500) and he bucked up then ran a few yds and stopped then bolted about 50 yds and stopped and turned to look back then as I watched him in my monocular he dropped. Lucky shot yes, but my Hornady super lite clipped his spine and did its job all while fighting the wind as the tree swayed too lol
