A week prior, Denver got to watch his big brother Chase harvest a nice 8 point. Shortly after Chase got his, Denver missed a buck. I wasn’t expecting both of them to get a shot the same night so the following Saturday we went back out more prepared. This time we had the Bog Deathgrip tripod with us. Anyone who has one knows they are are a game changer for helping youth hunters increase their odds off success. That, paired with a suppressed 350 makes hunts like this possible. It wasn’t long into our sit when this spike showed up. While I was hoping for a little bigger buck for his first deer ever, he was determined this was the one. As the buck was feeding I sat Denver on my lap and helped settle him in. Once he said the crosshairs were on the shoulder I took a quick peek. He was right. I cocked the hammered, told him to take a deep breath and slowly squeeze that trigger. He did and dropped him in his tracks! At just 4 years old my son had harvested his first deer/buck. Talk about an overwhelming rush of emotions! Of course the first person he had to call was his big brother! A hunt I’ll never forget! – Zach B
