The morning started fast, with two bucks appearing within the first 15 minutes of daylight. Around 7:15 AM, I opted to pass on a smaller 6- or 8-point in my primary shooting lane.

Moments later, I heard noise directly behind me. Recognizing a shooter buck and the limited window of opportunity, I executed a near 180-degree swing in my saddle as I drew the bow. I stopped him in a tight shooting window and let the arrow fly.

It seems the shot caught brush, but fortunately landed perfectly in vitals, hitting the carotid/esophagus. I followed his trajectory and found the buck down at approximately 40 yards
