Had multiple trailcam pictures of this resident buck on my property. Friday evening, about 6:30pm, he walked across a field about 50 yards in front of me. I took a shot into a 10+ mph and watched my arrow sail just below his midsection. Startled, he began to trot away. Trying a last ditch effort I let out my best mouth bleat. It stopped him and to my surprise he turned around and began walking back. Not wanting to take another long shot into the wind again, I again bleated and he changed directions and circled a tree that I ranged at 40 yards in front of me. As he was quartering away, at about 38 yards, I hit him nearside lung directly into the far shoulder. Even with hitting both lungs he still made it almost 500 yards before expiring in the neighbors alfalfa field.
