I was watching two yearling does in a rye field when I noticed that something behind me got their attention. I peaked around the tree from my stand and he was passing 30-40’ from me. I had to let him walk past and waited. He gave me a quartering away shot at 30 yards. He only ran about 50 yards and piled up. He’s the first buck I’ve seen in 9 years. I hunt a spot that’s not very productive but it’s with an elderly friend that enjoys having me over, playing cards at lunch and eating way too much.
