Easton Sobol, 12-year-old, St. Clair County, embarked on an afternoon hunt. The field was teeming with deer, and an impressive 8-point was within 35 feet. However, Easton decided to pass on that one, opting to “leave it for his sister” to take. His sights were set on the 9-point deer across the field, which was still barely visible through the trees. As the deer closed the distance from 300 yards to just 50 feet, Easton’s father was shaking more than he was. Despite the adrenaline rush, Easton remained patient, waiting for the perfect shot. With a steady hand, he pulled the trigger. The deer ran about 30 yards before disappearing into the underbrush and dropping. He ended the night bragging with his friends at McCoys Deer Processing.
