My son Eli decided he wanted to take his first deer this year, so we prepared. He practiced shooting his 350 legend all year. Our house rule is 8 years old with practice and commitment to come to deer camp and take your first shot. We woke up at 4:30, geared up and headed to the woods. Shortly after daybreak we saw several bucks headed our way. He got behind his gun and started to line up his shot. He picked one of the bucks out, confirmed with me he was on “the spot” and I told him to go ahead. He squeezed off a shot at 149 yards and dropped the buck in its tracks. The excitement from both of us was out of this world. He was so proud of himself and I can’t even put into words how proud I was and am. The kid is hooked now!
