Went out this morning on a solo hunt. Got in the stand around 6:30 this morning was looking at the weather for today and around 7:15 he came walking in. My father in law and I have been on a mission to get this buck for a while. He evaded me once during bow season, and my father-in-law twice, once during bow and once on opening day. He was at about 30 yards when I took the shot. I got down out of my stand to look for blood. I found some but wasn’t much so I figured I made a bad shot. I went back to the house to get my father-in-law and went and got permission from the neighboring farmer to go on his property. We went back out and started tracking, found more and more blood as we went into the woods but then lost it. I decided to walk a little farther into the woods and looked to my left and there he was laying against a tree. He ran a total of about 60 yards. Was definitely a blessing to take him since it’s been about 3 years since I’ve been in the woods. Biggest deer I have taken.
