I shot my first deer, an 8-point buck Dec 7. I was excited, but even more so when we discovered there was more to the story. After bringing the deer back home, my grandpa noticed something familiar about the rack—it looked strikingly similar to a buck he’d shot at with an arrow on November 2nd. He had tracked that deer for a while, but eventually lost the blood trail. As he examined the deer more closely, he spotted a bald spot on its upper shoulder and to his amazement, found his arrowhead lodged in the deer. He’d been hoping a family member would get that deer, and it turned out to be a pretty cool first-buck story for his granddaughter.
