A totally unplanned stalk hunt resulted in this guy! We spotted him from the house at daylight in the corn stubble. He had a doe bedded down on a hill and then moved into a valley in the stubble. After a 400 yard army crawl stalk I laid in the dirt for over 2 hours ready to shoot when he stood up. All I could see was the top of his rack. I knew I needed to get back to the house soon to the baby so I finally started doing some mouth calling (since I lost my grunt call along the way) to try and get him to stand up. After a few minutes he stood up with his butt towards me, took a few steps away and then laid back down. I called a little more and he stood up again, this time broadside and I put him down at 103 yards. My first successful spot and stalk hunt and the best part was that my husband and kids got to watch from the house and then ride out to retrieve it with me. A hunt I will never forget!
