This past week has been hard on me and for the first time I wasn’t planning on hunting cause my wife Kayla Trombly called it and wanted to go out. So I started checking the zero on my thermal scope for coyote hunting and when she got home decided to opt out and said I could go.
With a heavy 13mph East wind I had one stand I could hunt and scrambled to head out meaning a bunch of things no prep time meant I forgot the camera arm for videoing for Fuel The Heritage the batteries for my head mounted POV GoPro and of course my phone and getting my good luck hugs and kisses from the wife and girls.
I got in the stand late at 545 and realized everything that I needed I forgot at the house.
So tonight I actually found the good in the chaos and took time to reflect. On Saturday I said my final goodbye to one of my biggest supporters in life my Uncle Mark. His wish throughout life was for me to seek out God and start to heal my past and look for the brighter days to be had.
Being 100% disconnected from all distractions I prayed for the answers and some guidance in my recent tribulations and to seek his forgiveness for the first time in many many years.
Low and behold some peace would be delivered when my #1 target buck followed a hot doe in to 16 yards. Right as I shot he turned hard quartering away from me and I instantly felt my stomach drop when I saw my Ignitor Knock bury deep but way back with a steep angle forward.
At this point I worried about the angle and weather I hit any vitals or if it was guts shot.
I watched him run about 60 yrds then stop and stagger out of sight within a few moments I heard a gurgling sound and wondered if it went into the off shoulder like you pray for on hard quartering shots.
I gave him 45 minutes watched another young buck walk through then climbed down and made my way back to the house so I could get my phone and call for some help.
Thanks to good friends Dylan Rapp and Jerry Pierman for again running right over to lend a hand even though we found him 20 yrds off the trail with the Pulsar XQ38F thermal Scanner. As well as my little tag along Maddie she sure loves to be apart of the outdoors adventures I go on and is always excited to see what I might bring home with me!
The all new Bear Archery Status EKO and G5 Havocs from D&R Sports Center delivered a lethal hit putting him down in 80yrds!!!
A special thanks to my wife and daughters for putting up with the craziness that I put them through during deer season and my OCD with scent control as well as my Mom Dad Brothers and the Fuel The Heritage Team Members who are all out there working hard to put footage down of successful harvests which I am 0 for 3 on getting the shot on camera now haha!!!
