October 3rd — A day I will never forget.
Hunting has always been a huge part of my life. I’ve only ever heard a few stories of people seeing piebald deer, and never in my wildest dreams did I think I would one day have the opportunity to see one, let alone harvest one.
I’ve been blessed with some incredible experiences in the woods throughout my life, and I truly cherish every second I get to spend there. But what happened on October 3rd is something I know I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
I had no previous history with this buck made it all so special. I had never seen him, never had pictures of him, and never even knew a buck like this was living in the area. Yet somehow, on this particular day, God brought us together.
I was sitting on the ground at the base of my tree stand when this beautiful piebald buck appeared just 8 yards away. With my compound bow in hand, I was given an opportunity that I never could have imagined. Being that close to such a rare and majestic animal was a feeling I simply cannot put into words.
Looking back on the entire experience, I truly believe God had a plan for that moment. There were so many things that had to happen perfectly for me to be in that exact spot, at that exact time, with that buck coming within 8 yards. I know opportunities like this don’t happen by accident, and I’m incredibly grateful that God allowed me to experience something so special.
More than the harvest itself, I’m thankful for the memories, the time in His creation, and the reminder of just how blessed I am to be able to enjoy the outdoors. This buck is one of the most beautiful animals I have ever seen, and I’ll never take for granted the opportunity God gave me on October 3rd.
Some hunts you remember for a season. Some you remember for a lifetime.
This is one I’ll thank God for for the rest of mine.
