Took this young man out out hunting. We were kinda nervous after pulling into property at dawn. We rushed back and I got him setup in a ladder stand. I got back to mine about 150 yards away. As I set down I noticed 6 deer coming across field on a run. Hoping they would cut back towards him. At about 8:30 I was watching a big 6 myself debating on taking it or waiting to see if it would walk his way. As I watched mine in the scope I was startled by the sound of a gunshot from his spot. 30 second later my walkie talkies rang out with a very excited kid “I just shot a 6 point!!” So since my deer had not ran I decided to take mine as well. I asked him to wait for me but he was to excited. He ended up tracking it about 60 yards through some very thick briar thorns, and found it about 30 ft from our main trail. He was beyond excited to say the least. This is his first deer and we all couldn’t be more proud.
