Opening day was a success. I sat down at about 5:50 AM, the birds flew down at 6:30 AM and my tag was filled by 6:45 AM. I called in 4 toms, 2 Jake’s, and 6 hens. My Turkey was the 3rd gobbler to step into the opening and started strutting when he saw my Jake decoy, so I knew he was the one. He measured 50” long, 10 1/4” beard, 1 1/4” spurs and 25.6 lbs. Now I’m looking forward to the real fun, helping family and friends fill their tags.
