This year has been an emotional roller coaster for deer. October I missed my target Buck twice with my compound so was a little defeated after that. Wanting to hang it up and start chasing ducks I always found myself back up in my tree stand. Started running cameras this year and I have never seen this Buck before so I gave him the nickname of the monster. Come to find out my dad has been chasing this Buck for a couple years now. I got him pretty patterned and two weeks ago he suffered a bad leg injury (come to find out it was a gunshot wound) threw us for a loop and was gone. Well today again I was hunting ducks this morning and with the rain stopping before dark i knew this Buck would daylight at my dads blind so talking about deer hunting while duck hunting i was determined to pack it up and head upstate. Called dad to make sure he wasn’t hunting and packed the truck and out to dads blind I went. As soon as the rain stopped our herd started moving and out came the monster and the rest is history.
