Started seeing this buck at night when I pulled into my driveway and he was showing up on my ring cam. Past 2 weeks he’s been coming closer and closer to daylight. The 20th I seen him down the road in the morning and the 27th my buddy saw him in the morning same place. The hunt club across the road did a pheasant release and were shooting all day and the neighbors were hunting next to me. I knew the deer would be pushed a cross the road and the wind was bad for the neigbors so the deer were crossing into my yard. I knew if I was gonna have a chance it was now. I decided to grab my crossbow and sit under my pine tree. Sure enough just before dark he came right up to me to rub a cedar tree I just recently planted 18 yards away. I took the shot and found very little blood. 150 yards of tracking I’ve had more blood from a bloody nose. The arrow went in double lunged and the fletching was blocking off the entry he bleed out internally. 13 point duel split brows with the start of an eye guard on his right antler. I am tagged for the 2026 season shot a nice 8 point opening day with my compound. I took this one with my crossbow. And I’m glad I grabbed the crossbow because if I had my compound I would not have been able to shoot from under the tree.
