Got set up to call in a tom that was about 300 yards out. Right as we settled in, we heard another gobble, this one way closer, maybe 150 yards. We made a quick move, set up again, and started working him.
He was trailing a hen, and she ended up spotting our decoys. Next thing I know, she brings him straight in. At about 30 yards, I took the shot—and he dropped.
Couldn’t have asked for a better first turkey hunt. Huge shoutout to my buddy Jordan Brown for calling him in and making it all happen.
