Saw him in the morning with a doe that took him onto the neighbors and I thought I lost my chance with him. That night I set up on a pine edge I hadn’t hunted before. I was watching a smaller buck when I heard grunts coming from the other side of the tree. The doe popped out of a thicket and he was right behind her. She lead him to within ten yards of me for about five minutes but I didn’t have a shot. He finally offered me a shot at 23 yards. He went about 20 yards and tipped over in sight. From the last place I saw him in the morning to where I shot him in the evening was over 1,000 yards.
