Wind coming out of sw gusting 25-30 mph. I went out to the stand about 430, several times had 2nd thoughts about my safety being 16 ft up with the wind pushing all the trees around like twigs, but I stuck it out. I had 2 doe run under the stand at 7 pm, I was looking for a buck to follow. 705 a buck came from the opposite direction walking straight to me. Checked the rack to make sure it was legal and he came broadside at 30 yrs. I heard the arrow connect ,I thought, but the buck only jumped about 5 ft and just stood there like he wasn’t hit. My ears are poor, so I figured I missed. He stood there for 30 seconds, but then headed to a pothole that I never see deer use. It was getting dark, I climbed down, headed to where he was standing and the arrow was drenched in red blood from my Rage. The pothole was 50 yrs away and I followed an easy trail of blood, got close to the pothole and seen his eyes. I backed out, went home, had dinner, and came back 1 1/2 hrs later and there he laid deader than dead. Nice 10 PT, 15 inch inside spread, dressed out at 170#.
