I have been hunting this buck since opening day and only saw him once on Saturday 11/16. After seeing him, I knew I had to keep at it. I almost didn’t go out to my stand yesterday (11/22) but the wind was perfect coming from the West leaving me down wind of the deer. It was about 4:30 pm when 11 doe came into the field from the West. I heard some rummaging to the South and a little 6 point came out. A minute later this beautiful 8 point came out. Instant buck fever. He trotted out and I thought he was going to run back to the West making the shot impossible. Thankfully, he stopped and slowly turned broadside while eating some left over beans in the field from this years harvest. Once he turned broad side at 100 yards I took the shot at 4:54 pm. He ran about 20 yards and dropped. This is the biggest buck I’ve ever shot and it will be a life long memory that I will always cherish and remember. I am so blessed. What a beautiful animal and a very memorable harvest.
