I head up north prepared for an all day sit along the river bottom since the rut is in full swing, shortly after daylight I had turkeys roosting behind me coming out of they’re roost, 20 minutes later I see a deer coming through the thicket and i grab my bow. I see it was a nice buck so when I had the opportunity I drew back he stopped at about 25 yards looking into the bedding area and I anchor myself and let it fly. I knew I drilled him by the way he took off, tried jumping over the small river falling short into the bank. He got up and continued to run into the thick stuff where I lost sight. He went about 70 yards total, 20 yards after I lost sight of him. Biggest buck to date for me and I couldn’t be happier!!!
