October 26 i watched this buck come in with a doe and work a mock scrape i made for 10 minutes before he presented a steep 25 yd shot. I sent a beman from my Mathews outback and watched my arrow hit his shoulder with only 5″ of penetration. I felt sick instantly but tried to stay positive and picked up the blood trail after 2 hrs of waiting. Eventually blood ran out and 4 hours of searching turned up empty. I kept telling everybody i want another chance at “my” buck and no other, even if it was way bigger. Fast forward to November 5 at 8 am and i release another beman on a good 8 pt making a text book pass thru shot. I found the buck in a creek with only an antler and ear sticking out of the water. I started pulling him from the water and noticed a scar on his shoulder, quickly looked at his rack from straight on and knew instantly this was “my” buck ! You wanna talk about being lucky and getting redemption, I couldn’t believe it.
