This is the biggest deer I ever had trail cam pics of on public land in Alcona County… I had pictures of him, and an even bigger bodied 9 point all October. When the rut started in November this buck disappeared, I’m guessing because the bigger bodied 9 chased him off. I didn’t get a single pic from Halloween until he suddenly turned back up November 27th… I was watching a group of does and small bucks leave their bedding area in private property heading to a feeding spot on public around 4:45pm the very last night of rifle season. Around 5:10 2 does and this buck came walking by. The only shot I had was at a small section of chest between 2 trees, about 90 yards away. After the shot I thought I had missed. I found no blood for almost 180 yards in any direction, so I decided to just start making circles just to be sure I missed. I found him about 220 yards from my blind, he was hit in the heart, but for some reason there was no exit wound. My biggest deer to date.
